Bell, Ann (4th & 5th II)

Welcome to Mrs. Bell's Classroom Website!
Ann Bell

I am so excited to be back at Black Mountain Elementary for my second year, after some time away in other schools in the county.  Previously, I taught intensive intervention and resource at BME for nine years.  I then spent a few years in other county schools, during which time I traveled and taught the Wilson Reading Program to students with special needs.  I consider this my home, however, and I'm glad to be back at BME teaching intensive intervention once again, and this time with my wonderful friend and assistant, Sonya Russell.
This is my 22nd year teaching special education overall.  I attended Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC, where I earned a B.A. in English and K-6 regular education certification.  I then spent a full year at Appalachian State University, where I earned a Master's degree in Special Education, K-12, while working part-time in as an assistant in a local church preschool.  I spent my first six years teaching in Marion, and then I transferred to Buncombe County Schools, closer to my home in Black Mountain.
I split my time between my school family and my own family - my husband David, and my two children, Allen (age 18 and a senior at Owen High School), and Emma (age 13 and an 8th grader at Owen Middle School).  I enjoy camping, reading, swimming, and exploring with my family and friends.
I'm so thankful to have each and every one of your children in my class.  They brighten my days!  I like to create a family atmosphere in my class, where everyone is comfortable and secure, first and foremost.  I also like open communication with parents.  I believe we have to work closely together, and I'm always here to address concerns and questions.  Call, email, or come see me anytime.  You are always welcome in our building and our classroom!
