Griffin, Jim (4th Grade)

Welcome to our Classroom
James T. Griffin

Congratulations!!! You are now officially a fourth grader and a student in Mr. Griffin’s class.  I am so glad you are a part of our class. (Once a Griffin student, always a Griffin student.)  I know we are going to have a great year!  We study a lot of neat things – animals, rocks, electricity, magnetism, fractions, North Carolina, and more…

Let me tell you a little bit about me.  I was born in Florida – it’s very flat there, with no mountains, hot, and the dirt is black.  I live in Montreat with my wonderful wife, Martha. We have a daughter, Kathleen, who was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and is living in Korea for her third year.  She is learning to read, write, and speak Korean and is teaching English at Jungwon University in South Korea.  Kathleen is my pride and joy! Our family dog is named Sadie and she is a five and a half year old Brittany spaniel mix. Sadie is a rescue dog.  We attend Black Mountain Presbyterian Church.  I enjoy science, animals, nature, carpentry, gardening, fly-fishing, and spending time with my family.  My favorite color is red and my favorite number is seven AND I LOVE TEACHING!

We will work hard this year, especially in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.  We will be writing a lot of stories. Even though we work hard, we will have a lot fun together. Welcome to Room 209.
